Valentine's Day in Iran

In the 21 st century, the celebration of Valentine's Day in Iran has been sharply criticized by conservatives who view the celebration as opposed to Islamic culture. In 2011, the printing operation owners Iranian Union issued a directive prohibiting the printing and distribution of products to promote parties, including cards, gifts and teddy bears. "Printing and production of date-related goods, including posters, boxes and cards illustrated with half a heart or hearts, red roses and promotional activities are prohibited that day ... outlets that violate this will be dealt with legally, " said the union.
